Central California Amateur Softball Association

 GFP - B & C All Star Program Guidelines

PURPOSE:

  • To provide a tournament team program through recreational league registration with Amateur Softball Association (ASA)

  • This program will cover “B” and “C” youth softball teams registered with ASA, within the Central California Amateur Softball Association. (CCASA)

NOTE: Central California Amateur Softball Association (CCASA) is a name change from last seasons Central California Metro Softball Association (CCMSA)

GENERAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES:

  • Leagues will distribute this program directive to all recreational league player parents, during signups.  Two weeks prior to tryouts, the date times, and selection methods will be posted for all coaches and players to see.

  • Tournament teams will be selected from recreational leagues, High School (Junior/Senior) or Rural teams.

  • Recreational leagues must have established physical boundaries defined and on file with CCASA.

  • Teams must have come from active players of a single recreational league.

  • High School teams will have players from no more then four High Schools.

  • A player’s age as of December 31 determines the age in which the player is eligible to play the following year. Players of younger age may play in older classifications. An older player may not play in a younger age classification.

  • Players must have participated in 50% of recreational league scheduled games to be eligible for tournament team selection. Injured players can be participating by being on the bench.  Injured players may be replaced from eligible players from the league.  High School or Rural teams may add from their immediate area by doing an official roster change.  This would involve additional charge for players not previously registered.  Players must be registered prior to team participation.  Player adds and drops must conform to the league by-laws.

  • All Star team selection will be per established written criteria of the league.  These criteria to be available to any league member.

  • Teams are not to be selected, practice or play together before the Monday (May 3) following the first complete weekend in May.

  • Any player who participates on an “A” travel team after the Monday  following the first complete weekend in May is ineligible to participate in “B” or “C” All Stars.

Any player who participates on a “B” team after the Monday following the first complete weekend in May is ineligible to participate on a “C” team.

NOTE: Participate is defined as playing in an umpired game.

  • Team classification (“B” or “C”) will be determined by how the team is registered with the CCASA for all-star season. Registration must be completed before participation as a team.  Initial  all-star registration will be recorded on the regular team/individual registration form.  (Same form as league play).  This form has to be at the CCASA office prior to any team practice or games.

  • Championship team rosters will be utilized for championship events.  Team managers must complete these rosters and have them ready to be red lined, and signed by a CCASA commissioner or designated individual.  Team managers are responsible for obtaining this signature at least 24 hours prior to the first Championship (Association) tournament.

  • The two previous paragraphs pertain to High School and Rural teams too. Contact your area Junior Olympic Commissioner or check the CCASA web site (WWW.CCMSA.ORG) contact for distribution of forms.  High School and new rural teams will have to pay and register ASA at this time.

  • Team rosters will be frozen (red lined) and signed by a CCASA commissioner or designated individual. Team managers are responsible for obtaining this signature at least 72 hours prior to the first Championship (Association) tournament.

  • Pick Up players (3) may be added to a roster after the Association Championship tournament by selecting from a team no longer eligible for Championship play.  Targeted team must be from the same Association, same division and the same or lower classification of play.  Final team roster (with pick-ups) must not exceed 18 players.  Pick up player forms must be processed/signed through the Director of GFP B & C Travel Ball or a designee prior to players participating.  Pick up player forms must then be kept with the official Championship roster.

TEAM ELIGIBILTY:

  • “B” Teams may participate in “A” sanctioned invitational tournaments. Dependent on performance they could be reclassified to the higher division.

  • “C” Teams may participate in  “A” or  “B” sanctioned tournaments.

Dependent on performance they could be reclassified to the higher division.

  •  Any “B” or “C” team participating in a higher division’s championship tournament will be automatically reclassified to that division.

  • Any team being reclassified may appeal that reclassification to their Commissioner or classification committee.

  • Any team participating in another organization(s) championship tournaments is ineligible for ASA championship tournaments.
