Championship Play Tournament Rules

ASA codes and playing rules will apply as outlined in the current official guide with the following exceptions:

1.      Metro and Regional championship tournaments shall be double elimination unless otherwise so approved.

2.      Teams having qualified for National may not enter in Metro championship play. Teams may enter at Regional championships only if they forfeit their berth to Nationals.

3.      Player uniform requirements shall be enforced as listed in the ASA code (Class A & B teams) or allowed by the Pacific Coast Region tournament guidelines.

4.      Teams must check in with the ASA or Tournament Director no less then 1 hour prior to scheduled game time.

5.      Game time is forfeit time. No grace period.

6.      If the tournament schedule is delayed, it shall be the responsibility of each "manager" to contact the event representative for possible game time and field location changes.

7.      The team listed on top of bracket shall occupy the third base dugout. Exception: A team playing in double-header on the same field shall stay in the same dugout.

8.      Home team shall be determined by a coin toss; at the time line-up cards are submitted to the home plate umpire.

9.      The tournament officials will supply game ball and are the only softballs allowed in the tournament. If violated, the head coach will be removed will be removed from the game. If the violation occurs again, the team at fault will forfeit the game.

10.   Infield practice allowed only in foul territory.

11.   Playing rules protests will settle prior to the next pitch. Illegal substitute or re-entry will be made while they are in the game and before the umpires leave the field. Player eligibility protests shall be made in a timely manner and according to ASA code and tournament ground rules.

12.   Run ahead rule: fifteen (15) runs after three innings. Eight (8) runs after five.

13.   Tie breaker rule begins in the eighth (8) inning or after time has expired (FP).

14.   Time limit: 1 hour & 45 minutes. Games will be schedule 2 hours apart.

15.   Use of tobacco products is prohibited at JO tournaments.

16.   No alcoholic beverage or illegal drugs are permitted on or near the fields including bleachers and spectator areas.

17.   Umpires (during games) and/or tournament officials shall have the responsibility of ejecting coaches, players or spectators for abusive language or other acts that are contrary to the objectives and purposes of CCASA & ASA. A warning for the first offense "MAY" be issued at the umpire's/officials discretion. The second offense by coaches or players shall result in ejection of the responsible individual(s) from the game. Second, and subsequent, offenses by a spectator shall result in ejection of (1) head coach, (2) coaching staff and (3) players.

General Information

1.      All games will be played at _______________________________facility.

 

2.      Check-in time is 1 hour prior to your first scheduled game. Teams are required to have their ASA Roster signed by your ASA association representative, proof of age for all players, proof of insurance, and registration fee paid prior to event.

 

3.      Teams may warm-up in the out-of play areas behind the outfield fence. No use of the infield is permitted prior to the game.

 

4.      Teams are to provide their own cups and shade cover for the dugout. Normally Water is provided in each dugout. If not a water cooler will be provided.

 

5.      Teams are to provide their own line-up card to the umpire. All eligible players are to be listed on the line-up. A coin-flip will determine home team and will be conducted by the umpire.

 

6.      Home team is official scorekeeper unless event has scorekeepers. Official score book shall be provided. Each team is responsible for reporting score to tournament director.

 

7.      The only official schedule is the bracket posted near the concession/sales stands. Teams are responsible for checking for game time and field assignment for each game. If a game is delayed it is the responsible of the managers to contact the tournament director for possible schedule modifications. Modifications to the schedule may be necessary after the tournament has started.
